1.6 and 1.7 on your computer

You play on Jolt server ? You got the 1.6 version of COD4. Here a tutorial which will show you how to install 1.7 version while keeping the 1.6 version at the same :

Install 1.6 and 1.7 version:

1 - Go in C:\Program Files\Activision
2 - Create a new folder and name it Version 1.6




3 - Copy all your folder Call of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare
4 - Paste it in your "Version 1.6 folder" , that you've just created



5 - Download the 1.7 update on this website ==> http://www.clubic.com/patch-jeux-video-8461-0-call-of-duty-4-modern-warfare.html



6- Launch the program, it will update your 1.6 version to the 1.7



7 - Now create a shortcut for the 1.6 version and the 1.7 version on your desktop
8- Search for iw3mp.exe (multiplayer) in C:\Program Files\Activision\Version 1.6 and right clic => send to Desktop



9- Rename it [color:d86b=#red]1.6 Version



10- Search for iw3mp.exe (multiplayer) in C:\Program Files\Activision\Call of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare and right clic => send to Desktop
11- Rename it [color:d86b=red1.7 Version[/color]




Now you can play with the 1.6 and 1.7 version. Enjoy!

1- go in C:\Program Files\Activision\Version 1.6\Call of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare\players

2- Copy the entire folder in C:\Program Files\Activision\Call of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare\players


Windows VISTA users


1- Go in :"your name"/ AppData/ Local/
VirtualStore/ Program Files/ Activision/ Call of Duty 4 - Modern
Warfare/Players/Profiles
2- Copy and paste as shown hereover.

To find AppData do Start /Search and type AppData

hi i need your help morback,
i downloaded the 1.7 patch and it worked but
i can't get on the 1.6 annymore
what do i do now

uniinstall and instal again u must do something wrong

You just need to follow the instructions, the copy you make becomes your 1.6 the download is the 1.7 once done you need as Morback says two desktop icons one for 1.6 and one for 1.7.
This was the easy bit, I used a english site to download the 1.7 http://www.filefront.com/10829906/Call-of-Duty-4-Modern-Warfare-v1.7-Patch/ as easier to follow, my french is crap.
The trouble I had with Vista was moving my player profile as Morback says it is in a different file you need to show all hidden files as this could be hidden depending on your set up.
